How to Integrate Drivers to Windows XP CD Using nLite

Here I am going to show how you can integrate drivers to the Windows Xp CD using nLite. Driver integration means to add the drivers such as AHCI Driver and Motherboard drivers or any other required driver to the operating system CD. It is very helpful, if you are running same configuration computer in the office or home, just integrate the motherboard drivers to the XP CD, after installing the OS no need to install the motherboard driver again, through which you can save the time. To integrate Driver follow the steps below. For example here I am going to integrate AHCI (Version 11.2.0.1006) for windows xp 32bit and the driver folder name is f6flpy-x86.
  • Download and install nLite (Search Google and Download)
  • Copy the Xp CD to Computer (Create a folder XPCD and copy the XP CD into it)
  • Open nLite click Next
  • Click on the Browse and select the folder of Windows Xp, which you have copied to computer, then click Next
  • Click Next
  • Click on Drivers Button and Click Next
Driver Integration nLite
  • Click on Insert (Single Driver or Multiple Driver Folder) here select single driver and open your driver folder (f6flpy-x86) select iaAHCI and Click Open.
Driver Integration nLite
  • Select Textmode driver and select the drivers from the Textmode integration options Ctrl+A to select all or select the driver you want to integrate Hold CTRL to select multiple items.
Driver Integration nLite
  • Again select all CTRL+A and Click Next
Driver Integration nLite
  • Do you want to start the process? Click Yes
  • Wait until it finished then click Next
  • Click Finish to exit the nLite
Now the driver has been integrated to the windows xp, in this way you can integrate motherboard drivers to your CD, after integrating the motherboard drivers to the windows xp you do not need to install drivers after installing windows xp, it will install automatically along with the windows xp Operating System.

Dell Inspiron 3520 Laptop blue screen error
To download AHCI (Advanced Host Controller Interface) go to Intel Rapid Storage Technology Download Center you will find f6flpy-x64 and f6flpy-x86. If you have windows xp 64bit then download f6flpy-x64 and for windows xp 32bit download f6flpy-x86.

Now extract the zip file and the AHCI (iaAHCI.inf) driver can be integrate to windows xp by using a software called Nlite.

With Nlite you can also create the bootable CD image, after creating the image burn the iso file to CD and now you will able to install windows xp on Dell Inspiron 3520 Laptop.

All about administrative share - Windows

The administrative shares are the default network shares created by most Windows NT-based operating systems like NT/2000/XP/2003/Vista/Windows 7. Administrative shares by-default automatically shared file system resources. It shares every hard drive partition in the system. These shares will allow anyone who can authenticate as any member of the local Administrators group access to the root directory of every hard drive on the system. They are not generally used or useful outside an enterprise environment, and are not accessible by default on home editions of XP, Vista or Windows 7.

All about administrative share Windows PC

Any drive letter + $ only the local disk volumes, not any removable devices such as CD/DVD or USB flash drives, such as admin$ which shares access to %SYSTEMROOT%, which is usually C:\WINDOWS or C:\WINNT. The "$" affixed to the end of the share name means that it's a hidden share. Windows will not list such shares while you normally access the share resource of a system like \\computername. This means that one needs to know the name of an administrative share in order to access it.

Only those by-default shares created by Windows containing the '$' suffix are considered administrative shares not all the shares includes the ‘$' character at the end. While any share (even non-administrative shares) can include a '$' character at the end of its name.

How to access these share \\network computer name\(Drive Letter)$ for example \\Mypc\c$ This represents the administrative share for the "C" drive on the computer "Mypc" and it is same for all other local drives not any removable drive.

How to enable in Windows XP Service Pack 1, 2, and 3

By default, Windows XP Service Pack 3 prevents access to the administrative shares through the network.

To enable administrative shares
  • Open Explorer and select Tools -> Folder Options
  • Select the View tab and scroll all the way down to the bottom of Advanced Settings
  • Make sure that "Use simple file sharing (Recommended)" is not selected

This should work instantly without the need for reboot. Note: Windows XP Home editions do not have this option, so cannot show administrative shares.

Note: You should have an administrative user account and password to login.
